DAT RateView Integration

Market rates, powered by DAT RateView, are now embedded in Rose Rocket — giving you real-time visibility into what the market is paying, directly inside your Assign partner(s) & cost widget.

Why use Market Rates?

Market rates tell you what other brokers are paying on the same lanes right now. Whether you're benchmarking a quote or trying to stay competitive, DAT RateView helps you price smarter.

You can:

  • See current rate averages by lane

  • Compare tariffs and lane history side-by-side with market

  • Adjust quotes in real time to win more business or protect margin

You’ll also see smart suggestions powered by Rosie, like the best value, most used carrier, or how your price stacks up to market.

Getting started

To see embedded market data, you’ll need:

  • Rating-2 module

  • A valid DAT RateView subscription (Pro or Premium)

Market Conditions and Load/Truck add-ons with DAT RateView subscriptions are also supported.

Set your defaults

Head to Settings > Rating > DAT RateView settings to control what shows up.

You can customize:

  • Service type (e.g. Van, Reefer, Flatbed)

  • Rate type (e.g. Spot, Contract)

  • Area granularity (e.g. 3-digit ZIP, Market area, Region)

  • Timeframe (e.g. last 7 days, 30 days, 90 days)

  • Market insights

    • Load/Truck Ratio (L/T)

    • Market Conditions Index (MCI)

    • Rate Forecasts

Defaults will apply when specific order details are missing — like when the shipment doesn’t have a service type.

You can also access this page directly from a shipment: Open order > Assign partner(s) & cost > Click the Settings gear.

Where Market Rates appear

You’ll find Market Rates inside the Assign partner(s) & cost widget when rating on:

  • Orders

Look under the “View details” section to see:

  • Market average rate

  • Lowest / Average / Highest for that lane

  • Number of reports and companies

  • Filters applied (e.g., equipment type, geography)

You'll see this alongside:
  • Tariffs

  • Embedded Lane History results

  • Rosie's smart insights

What does DAT RateView include?

DAT RateView provides two main types of information:

  1. Rate Lookup — retrieves RateView data for the following rate types:

    • Shipper to broker spot

    • Broker to carrier spot

    • Shipper to carrier contract

DAT RateView includes a monthly API usage allowance for integrations. To monitor your usage, log in to your DAT dashboard.

  1. Market Conditions — this includes two insights:

    • Load/Truck ratio (L/T): The number of loads divided by the number of trucks available.

      • In Rose Rocket: you’ll see the historical L/T ratio for origin/destination.

      • On the DAT dashboard: you’ll see the current day’s data.

    • Market Conditions Index (MCI): Indicates whether the market is cold or hot (higher = hotter). Hot markets typically pay higher rates.

      • In Rose Rocket: you’ll see the forecasted MCI for origin/destination (pickup/delivery dates must be within the next 7–8 days for successful results, this is configurable in Settings).

      • On the DAT dashboard: you’ll see the current day’s MCI.

What it doesn’t do

Market rates only pull from Order data and supports point-to-point orders only. It does not automatically populate your Order, and should be used as a reference.
