This guide covers how to set up accessorials, apply them across your records, and manage them over time.
Accessorials help you track and charge for costs that fall outside your base freight rate: whether it’s detention time, a liftgate fee, or refrigeration. With this enhacement, you can now set up flat rate, dimensional, CWT (cost per 100 lbs), or percentage-based accessorials directly in Rose Rocket—no more workarounds or missed charges.

1. Accessorial Basics
Accessorials in Rose Rocket can be:
-
Flat rate (e.g. $50 for inside delivery)
-
CWT (e.g. $3.00 per 100 lbs)
-
Dimensional (e.g. $0.5 per linear ft)
- Dimensions include: Total miles, Total stops, Total kilometres, Pounds (lbs), Linear feet (LF)
-
Percentage-based (e.g. 5% of freight)
You can assign accessorials to:
-
Customer and Partner profiles (to automatically apply them to any records tied to that customer/partner)
-
Quotes, Orders, and Manifests
-
Leg-level tasks
-
Driver mobile tasks
2. How to Create an Accessorial
-
Go to Rating > Accessorials > Create Accessorial
-
Add the following:
-
Name: This shows up as the line item description
-
Description: Internal notes or further details
-
Calculation Method: Choose between Flat Rate, CWT, Dimensional, or Percentage
-
Rate: The cost
-
(Optional) Set Min/Max thresholds for dimensional, CWT, or percentage accessorials
-
🛑 You cannot currently import accessorials via CSV, or add them to Tariffs.
3. How to Apply Accessorials
You can apply accessorials in three main ways:
Automatically (via defaults)
-
Customer/Partner > Default Accessorials > Add Accessorial
-
When that customer or partner is added to a quote/order/manifest, accessorials are automatically added to the data panel and FLI tables
- You can override accessorial rates per customer/partner profile to reflect negotiated rates.
Manually (via data panel)
-
From a record, go to the data panel > Accessorials or Customer Accessorials, and add
Manually (via line item table)
-
Use Add Line Item > Accessorial in:
-
Add Quote Widget
-
Partner Cost Widget
-
Assign Partner(s) & Cost
-
📝 Adding an accessorial to a quote/order/manifest will automatically apply it to all legs.
4. Editing or Deleting Accessorials
-
You can edit the line item (e.g. description, rate, quantity) without affecting the original accessorial record.
-
To remove, delete either from the data panel or line item table—both are linked.
-
⚠ Do not delete an accessorial from your accessorial book if it has ever been used. This will remove it from all historical records.
5. Task-Level Accessorials
Want to add accessorials to specific legs only?
-
First, add the accessorial to the order or manifest (this applies it to all legs)
-
Then, remove the accessorial from the leg tasks where it doesn’t apply
Note:
-
Accessorials added to a leg do not get added to the order
-
Removing from a leg does not remove from the order or other legs
6. Accessorials via Driver Mobile App
Drivers can add accessorials to their assigned tasks: Trip > Tasks > Select Task > Edit > Select Accessorial > Save
💡 Driver pay for accessorials must still be handled manually.
7. Cost Calculation for CWT/Dim/Percentage
For non-flat rate methods, costs are auto-calculated based on order data:
-
CWT: Rate per 100 lbs, uses commodity weight
-
Dimensional: Rate per volume (uses standard dimensions)
-
Percentage: % of freight line items (Type = Freight or Line Haul)
If commodity details are updated, rerate the accessorial via the line item table.
8. Important Limitations
-
Accessorials cannot currently be added to Tariffs
- You cannot auto-apply accessorials by commodity, location, or lane—yet. Use customer/partner defaults in the meantime.
-
No cumulative accessorial logic (e.g. $25 per hour detention with a max of $100 — not supported yet.)
-
No template FLI logic yet
-
Not solving for detention time rounding rules in this version
9. For Existing Rose Rocket Users (Accessorial Migration)
If your org existed before this feature was released, here’s what you need to know:
-
All existing accessorials are copied into your accessorial book with a $0 rate
-
Customer/Partner profile accessorials are now treated as Default Accessorials
-
Past records (quotes, orders, manifests) will reflect these accessorials, but no existing line items will be updated
🛑 Do not delete any of the migrated accessorials unless you’re certain they’re unused—they’re still tied to past records.
If you are interested in turning on the new and improved accessorials in your org, please reach out to your Account Manager. You will need Rating-0 for Flat Rate and Rating-2 for all other methods.
