Assigning an Asset to an Order

This process ensures your shipments are matched with available equipment and helps avoid scheduling conflicts and double-booking.

Description Summary

Assigning an asset (such as a truck or trailer) to an order in Rose Rocket connects the equipment to a specific trip, helping dispatchers plan and track more efficiently.

How It Works

With just a few simple clicks, users can easily assign an asset to a trip.

  1. Open the Order
Navigate to the order you want to assign an asset to.

  2. Click on the "Select assets" Widget
Within the order, open up the asset widget.

  3. Select an Asset from the Dropdown
For accounts that have the Assets Module enabled, users can only assign assets that are currently available, which will be indicated by color-coded text. In contrast, accounts without the Assets Module will display all assets in the dropdown menu, regardless of their availability status.

    • Black text = available and ready to assign

    • Grey text = currently assigned to another trip at overlapping times (conflict noted)

  4. Assign the Asset
Once you have selected your assets, click "Save".

Use Case Examples

  • A dispatcher assigns a company-owned trailer to a long-haul shipment after verifying its availability.

  • A fleet coordinator sees a conflict for a reefer unit and adjusts the trip time to resolve the overlap.

  • A user without the Assets Module selects an asset manually without visibility into scheduling conflicts.

Best Practices

  • Review the availability status in the dropdown before assigning.

  • Name assets clearly (e.g., “Truck 104 – Reefer”) to make selections easier.

  • Avoid double-booking by checking the manifest schedule before assigning.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

Can I assign more than one asset to one order?
Yes, you can assign multiple assets to one order.

Why don’t I see any assets in the dropdown?
You will only see them if you have previously created these assets.

Can I still assign a greyed-out asset?
Yes—but you must first remove it from the other trip or shift the schedule to avoid conflict.
